Course Description, Purpose and Goals

For Geography for Life  during Fourth Quarter we will resume our study of the world's countries and peoples, but will do so in a significantly different manner.   Now we will be utilizing more online resources rather than the textbook and physical papers.  Our primary objective will continue to be to help each student gain a greater awareness and appreciation of the diverse world in which we live.  As the student gains a "global perspective" she or he will realize the vast connections, experience and trends that exist globally between diverse people and places.   At the same time, tremendous insight will be gained about one's own culture, American ideals and traditions, and individual futures.

General Course Goals

  • To develop a learning culture nurturing consistently high achieving, focused and independent learners.
  • To develop young students who are team players, yet independent, self paced learners, initiators and thinkers.
  • To provide a safe and positive learning environment for all which enables students to reach their full potential.
  • To provide an environment celebrating the strengths and achievements of each member of the community.
  • To develop empowered young students who take responsibility for their actions and who demonstrate the skills, knowledge, and confidence to live and contribute as positive leaders to an ever changing world.
